”Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost like a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ”Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of human race.”
Persistence is defined as the firm continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty. The power to keep going will always triumph over all other obstacles.
Be aware and accept life’s inevitable ups and downs. Obstacles and setbacks will be on your way to success. It is a fact. Prepare for them, be ready to tackle them when they strike and press on harder persistently and purposefully.
Persistence is one of the most exemplary and laudable characters a person can possess. Persistent people know where they are going, they only care about their goal, they are specific about the result they want to achieve and the time frame they wish to achieve their goal. And any difficulty or opposition that comes on their way, they paralyze it with persistence. For example, Henry Ford went bankrupt three times before he finally managed to design his first automobile. He succeeded to become one of the richest men in the world. He said, ”failure is the golden opportunity to begin again more intelligently with more knowledge than you had before.
A Korean grand mother Cha Sa-Soon 68, passed the driving theory test exam and earned a driving license on the 950th attempt. (the practical part was not a problem for her. Only the theory part which included the regulations and car maintenance). She failed 949 times, setting a world record for the most attempts to pass driving test. Her determination to pass the test made her well-known in South Korea. She is now appearing in a prime-time advertisement for Hyundai, Korea’s largest car maker. She said, ”i believe you can achieve your goal if you persistently pursue it. So don’t give up on your dream, like me. Be strong and do your best.”
Many have the ability to set goals and plan towards success, but a handful prosper, because only few stick, persevere and persist to work on their goals and plan until it is accomplished. They believe in the cliche, ”delay is not denial and failure is not final.”
Always keep a positive mental attitude and learn to motivate yourself. When you are in the process of tackling a job, remember to read motivational books. Reading advice from successful people can ignite and stimulate your enthusiasm.
It is very important not to accept naysayers in your life. Surround yourself with like-minded people. Spending time with people who have positive outlook on life can be very inspiring.
When you are willing to do everything it takes to accomplish your goals, including patience and adjusting your strategy to get there, you will eventually know the supreme of persistence, great determination, and perspiration.
